Policeman accused of having sex with vulnerable women for nine months

An Avon & Somerset Police officer allegedly had sex with a vulnerable woman for nine months and sent her explicit photos of himself in uniform. PC Ross Knox, based in South Gloucestershire, faces a misconduct hearing before Chief Constable Sarah Crew on Friday 17 May.

A notice on the force’s website said the officer had been accused of breaching standards of professional conduct for police officers in respect of honesty and integrity; authority, respect and courtesy; and disreputable behavior. It said: “The alleged facts are: Between April 2022 and January 2023, the officer had sexual relations on several occasions with a woman, whom he knew was vulnerable and whom he did not protect.

“The sexual intercourse was consensual and happened while he was off duty. The officer also sent sexually explicit messages to the woman, including messages that referred to the woman in a degrading way, as well as images of himself in police uniform.”
