Brent Leatherwood has been fired as chairman of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission Board Executive Committee issued the following statement:

“In accordance with our bylaws, the executive committee has removed Brent Leatherwood as president. More details, as well as plans for the transition, will be provided at our September board meeting. Until then, the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees will assume directional responsibility for the fulfillment of ministry duties for the ERLC.”

More information will be provided at the September 10-11 ERLC trustee meeting in Nashville, Tenn.
