Steve Cooper reveals Leicester City’s transfer hopes with more to follow on potential Matias Soule deal

Steve Cooper is set to add “a few new faces” to Leicester City to boost the current squad.

The City boss has already welcomed four signings to the King Power Stadium this summer and insists the club are working on more offers. Cooper wants more than one or two recruits, knowing that transfer activity can boost the team’s morale even more.

An attacking midfielder is a priority, with City targeting Juventus’ young Argentine star Matias Soule. Reports in Italy insist the 21-year-old prefers a move to Rome, but money talks and Juventus could push Soule to City if their offer is the best.

A move to City, Roma or fellow suitor West Ham is not imminent though. Soule is currently in Germany for Juventus’ pre-season training camp.

Beyond that deal, a new striker and a new full-back are likely to be targeted, with another central midfielder and another winger in the spotlight after that. To make room and make cash, sales will also be needed.

“We’re really hungry to get down to work at Seagrave and keep building,” Cooper said after City’s training camp in France ended at the weekend. “Hopefully we can add some new faces, which I know the club is trying to do and is working with a lot. That will give the boys a boost too. We’ve had two really good weeks, but we have to make sure that next week is even better.”
