Five Manchester United players could still sell after Mason Greenwood’s £26.7m exit

Manchester United have been a completely different animal this summer when it comes to sales, with more exits still on the cards.

For years, sales at Old Trafford have been a big disappointment, with Manchester United seemingly unable to negotiate reasonable fees for departing players.

However, under the new ownership and footballing structure put in place by Ineos before this summer, the status quo has already been changed.

This has already brought the current total to £35.7m for the departures of Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, Alvaro Fernandez and Donny van de Veek – although the total could rise through bonuses and add-ons.

Greenwood brought most of that and after his £26.7m departure to Marseille, more players could be next on the exit list.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

One player who looks set to be sold this summer is Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as the £50million right-back is receiving serious interest from Premier League sides.

West Ham are a side said to be keen on United’s number 29 and have been urged to make the move by Stuart Pearce. With Diogo Dalot the starter and Wan-Bissaka’s contract expiring next summer, the sale makes the most sense for all parties.

Victor Lindelof

The centre-back department at Old Trafford is being rejuvenated this summer, with the arrival of Leny Yoro proof of that. This however leaves Victor Lindelof without a real spot on the team as one of the biggest losers of the recruiting unit.

Lindelof suffered a precipitous decline last season with injuries and poor form, meaning he is a prime candidate to be sold. Like Wan-Bissaka, there is no reason to keep him beyond this summer.

Scott McTominay

The third name on the list is arguably the only one we would be against selling this summer, is Scott McTominay. The Scottish midfielder was key for the Red Devils last season and is a very valuable squad member.

That said, interest in McTominay is high from Premier League rivals and a sale would be huge considering he is also Homegrown. The sale would also fund a move for a new midfielder to fit into Erik ten Hag’s side.

Casemiro

Another midfielder likely on the list of potential exits is Casemiro, with the Brazilian representing the club’s previous poor recruitment decisions.

With a massive wage bill, United and Ineos will be desperate to land interest from Saudi Arabia, and Ngolo Kante’s exit from Al-Ittihad could see the door open for Casemiro.

Facundo Pellistri

The final name on the list looks set to be United’s next summer departure, Facundo Pellistri. The Uruguayan wants to leave this summer, looking for regular minutes and a fresh start. Interest is high, with a manager even confirming interest.

It’s hardly a surprise that Pellistri could leave, as he’s behind several players in the pecking order. Letting him go is best for everyone involved and whoever gets him gets an excellent footballer.
