Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo is heavily linked with Liverpool at the moment, though claims from Japanese outlet Sponichi Annex that the Reds are ‘preparing’ a bid of around $71m (£55m/€65m) for the player they are premature.

It has been suggested that Liverpool are also willing to offer a hefty wage to get a deal over the line, although that will never be the case due to the numbers involved.

The report claimed that a salary of around $310,000 (£240,000/€285,000) was on the table for Kubo. That would mean the 23-year-old would earn more than everyone at Liverpool apart from Mohamed Salah, which was never going to happen.
