Visit Salisbury’s annual summer exhibition with over 120 original pieces

The Salisbury Artists Group (SGA) is set to dazzle visitors with its annual summer exhibition in Gallery 4 of Salisbury Central Library.

The exhibition will take place between August 3 and 30, 2024.

The event will feature over 120 original tracks from the group’s over 200 members.

The SGA has been an active part of the art scene since the 1940s.

Its members come from Salisbury and surrounding areas.

They come from a wide range of backgrounds, from professional artists and teachers to hobbyists and newcomers exploring their creative spark.

The exhibition will once again feature a “Wall of the Little Ones”.

This section was introduced at last year’s exhibition and proved to be a success.

The wall consists of smaller artworks at competitive prices, making original pieces of art more accessible to a wider audience.

Exhibition curator Annie George has invited the public to a ‘Meet the Artist’ event on August 3 from 2pm to 4pm.

She said: “Please write in your diary to come and see the exhibition on its opening afternoon and meet some of the artists who have contributed to the work.

“There are some eye-catching ceramic and sculptural pieces this year and great images from popular local artists in different styles and mediums.”

Expressing the group’s enthusiasm, Martin Webster, Chair of the Salisbury Artists Group, said: “We are keen to share the joy we all have in being creative: this exhibition provides an opportunity to find out more about us and what we do , as well as a chance to celebrate some outstanding work by our members.”

SGA activities go beyond the annual summer exhibition and include weekly painting sessions, more opportunities to display and sell artwork, and regular art workshops with professional artists.

The group also provides a social outlet, the ‘Salisbury Sketchers’ who sketch together each month around Salisbury during the warmer months.

For those interested in the group’s activities outside of the Summer Exhibition, more information can be found on their website www.salisburygroupofartists.co.uk.

The summer exhibition will be held during library hours, and admission is free and fully accessible via an elevator or stairs near the library’s front entrance.
