‘Suspicious man’ alert issued as Warwickshire Police warn locals ‘not to’

Police have issued a warning following reports of a ‘suspicious man’ knocking on doors in Warwickshire. They say the man knocking on doors and trying to sell is from a big black hulk in the Avon Dassett area.

In a Warwickshire Connected alert, police said: “This man was described as unpleasant when residents refused to buy anything from him, stating that he used to be in the Armed Forces. If someone comes to your door shouting and try. to sell you something you didn’t ask for, don’t answer the door.”




Following yesterday’s (July 22) report, Warwickshire Police also issued advice for residents if they receive similar callers at home. This includes calling 999 if the caller becomes abusive.

“You have the right to ask for identification and a street vendor licence,” the force alert said, adding: “This license must be signed by the Chief Constable of Warwickshire and in good standing. If it’s not signed, it’s not signed. valid for use in Warwickshire.

“If this is not displayed, move away and close the door. If knocking on the door persists or becomes abusive, call 999 if the person is still there or 101 if they have left and give as much description of the person as you can to the operator and directions if they are walking away.

“The most important thing is to be safe and only answer the door to people you know. If you’re not sure, you can always call a neighbor or friend with you to make sure.”
