Camborne Community Space Plan for ‘neglected’ land.

David Garwood, who works for the city council, said: “The site has been investigated and it actually has contaminated soil.”

The site is on what used to be a Holmans factory. The company manufactured rock drills and other mining equipment during the heyday of Cornwall’s mining industry.

“We’re going to need bigger machines than weed cutters (and) big diggers will come. They have to strip the site and then bring in new soil.”

Camborne Town Council has appointed a contractor to carry out the works.
