People in Cornwall reported having low or no water pressure this morning (Tuesday 23 July).

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), South West Water (SWW) says it is due to a burst main in their network and a team is working on site to fix it.

The company initially said some customers in the St Agnes and Roseland areas “may experience lower than normal water pressure or a loss of power.” It has since confirmed that the affected areas are TR1 – TR16.

Jack is staying in a campsite near Truro. He says that without running water, it means they have no access to showers or toilets:

“It makes us feel a bit dirty and unclean because we’re not able to fix ourselves and we end up looking at other options for emergency solutions – can we find a public toilet somewhere? It’s not ideal at all.”

In the latest update for X, SWW said: “Engineers are currently on site working hard to repair the main blast and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

“When your supply is restored you may experience discoloration, please run the faucet until the discoloration clears.”

Currently, there is no time frame when the issue will be resolved.

Customers are also reporting issues with SWW’s website, which the company says it is aware of and working to resolve.

Cornwall Council has confirmed that Threemilestone School is closed for the day due to a lack of water.

We have reached out to SWW for further comment.
