Milestone reached at Bristol Myers Squibb pharmaceutical laboratory and office complex in Wirral

A new drug development center built by global pharmaceutical giant Bristol Myers Squibb has reached a key milestone.

Eric Wright Construction is building a 37,000 sq ft facility in Moreton, Wirral, which has been designed to provide laboratories and open-plan office space for up to 200 colleagues and future-proof the Bristol Myers Squibb site.

The complex, designed by ADP Architects, is targeting BREEAM ‘outstanding’ accreditation and will also include extensive landscaped areas. It includes large panes of glass to maximize natural light, while inside there will be a range of collaboration areas and flexible office spaces.

The building has now reached its highest point, with roof work underway and specialist heat pumps installed. The heat pump, designed and installed by specialized subcontractor Geroserv, will ensure energy efficient heating and cooling of the building space.

Steve Reid, pre-construction director at Eric Wright Construction, said: “The team is incredibly proud to be working with Bristol Myers Squibb on this project which delivers a low energy, low carbon and sustainable facility. It is great to have achieved these milestones and to be on track for practical completion in May 2025.”
