Tributes to Huddersfield Town Kappa fan after sudden death

Tributes have been paid to a popular and much-loved family man who has died aged 56.

Christopher Martin Gahan, who was known to many as Kappa, was a huge Huddersfield Town fan and a family man who adored his children, Daniel and Megan, and grandchildren, Jacob and Isla. He died on July 15 after a short illness.




Christopher was from Bradley in Huddersfield and had a wide circle of friends through watching and playing football. He had played for Sovereign Sports, the Little John pub and Deighton Working Men’s Club and had followed Huddersfield Town for many years. He was a former pupil of All Saints.

His son Daniel said the father worked in the manufacturing department at engineering company Cummings in St Andrew’s Road, Huddersfield.

Daniel described his father as a popular man who had many friends. Daniel said his father enjoyed socializing in Bradley in his younger years. More recently he enjoyed a drink in Huddersfield town centre, visiting the Crown, Wetherspoons and the Plumbers Arms.

“He was a good hardworking man who was very loyal to those closest to him. He loved to socialize and people watch. He was a popular man.”

He is survived by his wife, Adele, his children and grandchildren. His funeral will take place on Friday August 16 at 11.15am at Huddersfield Crematorium, followed by a reception at Bradley Park Golf Club, Huddersfield.
