M&S shoppers are ‘unequivocally apologising’ after discovering an item in grocery stores

Marks and Spencer is under fire for a ‘culinary abomination’ on its shelves. M&S, which has stores up and down the West Midlands, has launched a new cheeseburger pasta salad – but found the product was wrong after it was launched as part of its new Viva Summer range.

The salad contains beef patties, burger sauce, mayo and red Leicester cheese, costing £3.90. Twitter/X user Matt wrote: “I think @marksandspencer I owe the nation of Italy a nasty and unequivocal apology for this culinary abomination.”




Discussing the new product on ITV’s Loose Women, I’m A Celebrity star Frankie Bridge said: “Don’t knock it until you try it, it tastes like a burger.” But co-star Nadia Sawalha was less impressed and said: “It doesn’t look like a salad to me.”

Panel host Kaye Adams said: “This is the cheeseburger pasta salad, which, funnily enough, has more calories than a regular cheeseburger.” Contains 755 calories – meanwhile the famous McDonald’s Big Mac contains 493 calories and a double contains 694 calories. The salad contains 33g of fat, while a Big Mac contains 24g and the double version has 38g.

An M&S spokesperson said: “Our new Cheeseburger Pasta Salad is a limited summer edition made with succulent British beef, Italian egg pasta, crispy onions, cheese and our exclusive burger sauces. It joins a huge selection of our food on the go range. including healthy lunch options through salads, pasta salads and sandwiches, which are highlighted to customers by our Eat Well Flower Pack in the new summer range, this includes items such as our new Eat Well Chicken Taco Shake-a-Salad.

Earlier, M&S was also criticized for its new £6 double Posh Egg Mayo and Watercress sandwich. Shoppers who saw the item on the shelves couldn’t believe the cost of the item.
