Hull FC have confirmed the ‘season-ending’ injury suffered in the win over Wigan Warriors

Hull FC players celebrate

Hull FC have confirmed they are likely to lose a key man for the rest of the Super League season through injury.

The Black and Whites came away with their season’s result at the weekend with a stunning 24-22 win over Wigan Warriors despite a late comeback from the away side.

However, they will now be without one of the try scorers from that game for a significant period of time, as confirmed by head coach Simon Grix.

Grix said, via BBC Humberside: “A bit of a shock really. I’m really disappointed for Davy, because he took it and it went well.

“He didn’t get much game time at the weekend, came out of a tackle, ran back a bit ginger.

“We got through the game, obviously he scored a great try after that and we had a lot of other good things as well, so don’t worry about it after the game.

“It wasn’t until the morning came that they do whatever analysis they need to do and his knee was a bit unstable.”

Grix went on to elaborate on the extent of the injury, saying: “Straight in for a scan and it looks like he’ll do really well if we see him again this year unfortunately.

“The MCL, one of the main stabilizers of your knee. No risks.

“It felt good to be fair, going for the scan on him was a bit overwhelming but obviously the test they did indicated something was going on and they proved to be right, so fair play to the medical staff for that they discovered it. .

“Disappointing for us, we don’t have a massive squad, right?

“I’m also very disappointed in Davy for waiting patiently.”

However, he probably won’t need surgery, Grix said.

Litten himself said on Twitter: “Gutted is an understatement💔 but can’t wait to get the body back for what’s an exciting time to be at the club 🙌🏻.”
