Royal Enfield to expand 650cc range with new Interceptor Bear 650 Scrambler: Report

Royal Enfield is reportedly gearing up to beef up its 650cc motorcycle lineup by introducing a new scrambler model, potentially called the Interceptor Bear 650. This new bike could be based on the popular Interceptor 650 platform. Speculations suggest that Royal Enfield could reveal the Interceptor Bear 650 at the Motoverse event later this year.

According to a report by HT Auto, a design patent filed by Royal Enfield for the Interceptor Bear 650 reveals that it will use the same chassis as the Interceptor 650. However, the scrambler is likely to have distinct rear springs with increased travel and top down. forks girl The bike may receive a fine-tuned suspension setup. As a scrambler, the bike will have spoked wheels paired with dual-purpose tires.

Further, the report adds that the Bear 650 might borrow its LED headlight from other 650cc models in the Royal Enfield lineup, which might not offer the best lighting at night. The turn signals will be LED and will be similar to the ones on the Himalayan 450, but the Bear 650 will have a separate circular LED tail lamp, unlike the Himalayan 450’s integrated turn signals and tail lamp. The bodywork is expected to be minimalist, with a new side panel design.

Under the hood, the Interceptor Bear 650 is expected to be powered by the same 648cc parallel-twin, air-cooled and oil-cooled engine found in the Interceptor 650, which delivers around 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The Bear 650 may have a different sprocket size. In addition, it will have a new single-sided exhaust system, which, while it may reduce the visual impact compared to the dual exhaust setup, should significantly reduce weight, as the current dual exhausts weigh almost 10 kg.

This anticipated model is likely to grab the attention of motorcycle enthusiasts, adding a new dimension to Royal Enfield’s 650cc lineup.
