Huddersfield’s ‘Black Dick’ ghost caught on camera in strange footage

A paranormal investigator captured some chilling images at a church in Yorkshire.

Mark Vernon, 58, from Wakefield, was investigating Kirkheaton Parish Church, an area rumored to be one of the most haunted locations in West Yorkshire.

Residents of Kirkheaton will already know all about Sir Richard Beaumont (1574-1631) who is said to haunt these parts with his head under his arm. It is not clear how he got the nickname Black Dick. He was said to be a highwayman, a gambler and a bad debtor – but was it because of his black hair and black appearance?

The story of his headless ghost may also be the result of confusion, as it was actually Robert de Beaumont who lost his head during an argument around 1341 when John de Eland attacked him in his Crosland Hall home , Huddersfield.

Hearing the rumours, paranormal investigator Mark visited the location on Sunday afternoon (July 21) and captured what he believes to be “some sort of portal”. In the video you can see a black shadow shape traveling through the lens, which Mark believes is related to Black Dick.

He said: “I visited Kirkheaton Church after hearing rumors that it was haunted and filmed what I believe to be some sort of portal and what I can only describe as a spirit blind for about 20 seconds.

“After that, my cameras stopped, which they never did before! I instantly connected the color of the large globe with the story of the black penis.” What do you think he captured? Let us know below.
