Arrest after man shot in face on Leeds Street

A man has been arrested after another man was shot in the face on a street in Leeds.

Police are investigating in Mardale Crescent in Seacroft, where the shooting is believed to have taken place.

They were called on Monday evening (May 13) to reports of a man attending hospital with serious injuries, which doctors confirmed was a gunshot wound.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson said: “The criminal use of firearms is something we always take extremely seriously and we have specialist detectives carrying out extensive inquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and to identify those responsible.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed anything at the time or who has information that could assist the investigation.

“We recognize that an incident of this nature will cause understandable concern in the community and we are working closely with our colleagues in Leeds Borough to provide appropriate reassurance to people in the area.”
