Nottingham Forest’s €20m move has increased as priority has been revealed

Turkish club Fenerbahce have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.

According to Turkish media reports Aspor Jose Mourinho’s side have made the player their priority transfer target after struggling last season at Forest.

The Yellow Canaries are said to have bid €20m for the midfielder’s services, but it is still unclear whether the Premier League side are willing to accept the terms – the player arrived from PSV Eindhoven for a £30m fee in the summer past.

Steve Cooper gave the player most of his minutes last season before heading to the AFCON where he represented Ivory Coast. He returned before suffering a knee injury and an “illness”, according to Nuno Espirito Santo. Speaking about Sangare in December, he said, “He (Sangare) is not at his best yet. He was seriously ill, he lost weight and it is the groin area. But he’s definitely an option for us.”

Since the start of the year, he has struggled to secure a place in the first team, with the Portuguese coach opting for either Danilo or Nicolas Dominguez in the midfield position. With the arrival of Elliot Anderson from Newcastle United earlier in the window, Sangare appears to have fallen further.
