South West Water is apologizing after a water main break caused major disruption

“We would like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding.”

A spokesman added: “The brown or yellow appearance of discolored water is caused by the disturbance of natural sediments that can build up in the main channel over time. These are generally associated with metals such as iron and manganese.

“Customers can claim a leakage allowance to reimburse them for any water lost. More details here.”

Customers are furious about the ongoing issues. One person said they had been running water for two hours.

They said, “Why are we getting brown/discolored water in the TR8 area? I’ve run the water for two hours and it’s still not clear. Considering we are at a meter why should we pay to clean up the problem… .”

Another person said: “So it’s 8.05am and it just went out again here in TR5. Any updates on what’s going on?”. Another person added: “Hi, I have a family in my vacation rental in TR6 who say they still have no drinking water. I’ve registered on the site but can I give some details please.”

Another customer said: “What’s going on #southwestwater? Start a little, then stop. When will it be fixed? Ghosting a large part of the Cornish population does your representative no favours.”
