South West Water is apologizing after a water main break caused major disruption

South West Water has apologized after a burst water main left thousands of customers in the Truro, Redruth and Pool areas without water for hours yesterday. However, people were warned of more outages today.

CornwallLive reported that SWW customers were hit with major problems on Tuesday following a burst water main. One person said: “Heard anything about the water issues in Camborne this morning? We don’t have water.” Another person added: “Water mains cut in Redruth.”




SWW engineers are currently working in St Agnes to repair the broken main and have apologized for the inconvenience. The water company told customers they could face discolouration in their water as a result.

He advised customers to turn on faucets until the water runs clear. SWW said it is offering “drainage” allowance to anyone who needs to run water to get rid of any discolouration.

This morning SWW said: “Customers in St Agnes – TR5 may experience lower pressure or a loss of supply, we have an engineer on the way to investigate. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

South West Water has since told CornwallLive: We are sorry for customers who experienced lower water pressure or a loss of water supply yesterday. The broken water main has been repaired and all customer supplies restored.

“Some customers may find that their water is discolored. Although this is not harmful, we advise against drinking it and ask customers who experience discolored water to run the water from the cold kitchen faucet until it clears.
