London gang convicted in Seaford burglary

A group from London have been convicted of theft following an incident in Seaford.

Police were called to a report of a burglary at a property in Coxwell Close on January 7.

Two men were heard; Remy Cadoret and Romeo Dankwa, and a 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, forced their way into the house.

It is believed one of the men had a knife and allegedly assaulted a man in the property.

Bank cards, cash and a range of electronics were stolen during the raid.

Acting on the information, the police quickly identified the vehicle in which they tried to escape. After a chase, the car crashed and they were all arrested.

All were charged with aggravated robbery.

Cadoret, 20, of Mayola Road, Hackney, and Dankwa, 20, of Walford Road, Hackney were found guilty following a three-week trial at Brighton Crown Court, which began on June 24.

The 15-year-old from Bromley pleaded guilty on June 18 and was referred to the Young Offenders Court.

Cadoret and Dankwa are due to be sentenced at Brighton Crown Court on September 20.

Detective Constable Steven Pittman said:

“This was a shocking incident and I am pleased that convictions have been obtained.

“They are dangerous individuals who have caused great distress to property owners who have not only had their property stolen, but have been threatened and violently assaulted.

“I hope their sentences reflect the seriousness of this crime and act as a deterrent to those thinking of offending. We will deal with offenders firmly.”
