Free swimming for Sandwell children during the summer school holidays

Sandwell’s children can once again enjoy themselves for free at leisure centers now that schools are out for the summer.

Free swimming for children during school holidays

With the summer holidays in full swing, children living in Sandwell can enjoy free swimming sessions, which are also available to Sandwell residents aged 60 and over all year round, at several Sandwell leisure centers including the new state-of-the-art Sandwell Aquatics Center in Smethwick.

People can take part in free swimming sessions if they are:

  • Sandwell children up to 18 years of age during school holidays during designated free swim sessions – check the Sandwell Leisure Trust (SLT) and Places Leisure websites for more details.
  • Sandwell residents aged 60 and over before 1pm every day.

Councilor Suzanne Hartwell, Deputy Leader of Sandwell Council and Cabinet Member for Neighborhoods and Community, said: “Swimming is a vital skill for everyone to learn and a fun and healthy activity for all ages.

“With the long summer school holidays underway and free swim sessions on offer, this is a great opportunity to swim in safe waters, including our Olympic-sized pool at the fantastic new Sandwell Aquatics Centre.”

SLT Leisure Centers host designated free swim sessions, advertised specifically for pools at Sandwell Aquatics Centre, Tipton Leisure Center and Wednesbury Leisure Centre. Visit the Sandwell Leisure Trust website

For West Bromwich Leisure Centre, register for free swimming by visiting reception at West Bromwich Leisure Center or call for more information on 0121 580 6430.
