Firefighters battle the blaze for nearly three hours – Southwark News

Nearly fifty people escaped a warehouse fire in Brixton which the Brigade fought for almost three hours.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled the blaze on Acre Lane from 3.40am on Thursday 25 July.

Firefighters used 32-meter ladders and an observation tower during the incident. The fire was under control by 7am.

No injuries were reported. A dryer and the roof were damaged by the flames.

Fire crews from Brixton, Clapham, Battersea, Peckham, Tooting, Lambeth and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

A spokesman for London Fire Brigade said: “Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a warehouse fire on Acre Lane in Brixton.

“A dryer was destroyed by the fire and part of the roof was also damaged by the fire. Approximately 49 people left the building before the Brigade arrived. No injuries were reported.

“One of the Brigade’s 32m ladders was used as an observation tower at the site to provide an aerial view of the incident.

“The brigade was called at 0341 and the fire was brought under control by 0659. Fire crews from Brixton, Clapham, Battersea, Peckham, Tooting, Lambeth and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.”
