“Provocative”: Anthony Elanga shares what Nuno Espirito Santo is doing…

Nottingham Forest’s pre-season tour of Spain is now drawing to a close, with Friday night’s game marking the end of their time in the sun.

It’s been a successful spell so far with Forest winning one and drawing one in their two games against Championship opposition.

Nuno Espirito Santo must be pleased with what he has seen from the Reds this summer both on and off the pitch.

The Portuguese manager had the backing of Evangelos Marinakis in the market, with five players already signed.

Forest remain unbeaten on the pitch after beating Chesterfield in their friendly before the trip to Spain.

And it looks like what Nuno has been doing on the training ground could pay off when the Reds start their friendlies.

What Anthony Elanga said about pre-season training

Forest have now been in Spain for just over a week, with the draw against Sunderland marking their first friendly on the continent.

Forest won against Millwall on Tuesday, but they were out of the game with Elliot Anderson battling injury.

A final game awaits Forest on Friday night against La Liga 2 side Elche

But the trip to Spain certainly proved to be a worthwhile one, with Anthony Elanga sharing details of what has been done to prepare the Reds for the new season.

Speaking to Sky Sports in Spain, the Sweden international revealed how hard Nuno worked the players in the 40C heat.

“I did double sessions in this heat as well – it feels really good to be able to train in this heat,” said Elanga.

“Because when you go back to England it won’t be so hot. It’s a challenge, but it will be worth it in the end.

“Being an area like this brings us together more. We’re able to come together more and I think that’s going to help us on the field.”

Anthony Elanga ready to further repay Forest’s faith

Elanga has now played a full season at the City Ground following his move from Manchester United last summer.

The 22-year-old managed an impressive return of five goals and nine assists in the Premier League alone for Forest.

And this has seen Newcastle United show a genuine interest in signing Elanga this summer.

But the winger showed no indication he would see his future elsewhere as he said he is ready to go again this season at Forest.

“This is the decision I wanted deep down (to join Forest) because I felt I needed to accept this challenge and play more regularly,” he added.

“I’m grateful that Forest were able to give me the opportunity and hopefully I was able to repay them last season and I want to be able to repay them this season.”
