18-year-old man seriously injured after double stabbing near busy London park

An 18-year-old man was seriously injured after a double stabbing near a London park.

The incident happened near Kennington Park in Cooks Road at around 4.30pm today (July 26).

Officers and crews from the London Ambulance Service attended and found two men injured.

They were transported to the hospital for further treatment.

The 18-year-old suffered serious injuries and his condition is currently being assessed.

A 17-year-old boy suffered minor injuries and was arrested in connection with the incident.

The families of the two teenagers have been informed.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at around 4.30pm on Friday 26 July to a fight in Cooks Road, SE17.

“Officers attended with colleagues from the ambulance service. Two men were taken to hospital with stab wounds.

“One of the men – aged 18 – suffered serious injuries. Police are awaiting an assessment of his condition.

“The second man – aged 17 – was less seriously injured. He was arrested in connection with the incident.

“The families of the two teenagers have been informed.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances, led by CID officers responsible for policing in Southwark and Lambeth.
