Police reveal 70 suspects now in cells across region and why

Police have revealed that a total of 70 suspects are currently spending their holiday in jails across the region – along with the reasons why. In a crime suspect ‘inventory’, West Midlands Police shared the number of suspected criminals in their cells on May 1.

In the cells in the force area, they had people charged with everything from theft and threats to kill to possession of a firearm and assault. A list of suspects was detailed for each custody block, with police adding: “We have force priorities for all our APL areas.”

They wrote: “In Perry Barr we have 37 people in custody on suspicion of offenses including burglary, possession of a firearm, theft and affray,” the force said. “In Stechford there are six people in our cells with assault, criminal damage and harassment being some of the alleged offenses they have been arrested for.
