McDonald’s in Falmouth is closing suddenly for ‘full investigation’ after pests were spotted

A McDonald’s restaurant and drive-thru in Cornwall has closed suddenly for a “full investigation” after a pest was spotted. The Falmouth branch, on Dracaena Avenue, has been closed since last week after customers failed to get their Maccies fix.

Reports of the closure came in last Thursday (July 17), and the fast food chain’s doors have remained closed ever since. There is no explanation or notice on the website and no response when calling the restaurant.

Now CornwallLive can confirm it is due to a pest problem. McDonald’s hopes to reopen the restaurant when it is possible to do so, but it is unclear when exactly.

The website currently states that it was supposed to reopen yesterday (Thursday, July 25), but that is not the case. It also says it has been closed since Friday, July 5 for “renovation.”

Customers have frustratingly reported that they can still order from apps like Uber Eats and Deliveroo without the food ever arriving. Drivers were also left confused about the closure.

A lot of people seem a little lost without their fix of fast food, while others don’t get the fuss. Taking to social media, one said: ‘Clearly not missing it, or at least jumped on the bandwagon. There are so many other options, including your own kitchens or worse, supermarkets/fakeaways!” Another said: “I’m afraid everyone needs to chill out a bit.”
