League One defender closing in on £3million move to Sheffield United amid transfer links from Leeds United

There will be more entries at Elland Road in the coming weeks as Daniel Farke continues to restructure his Leeds United first team squad. But one player who won’t be heading to West Yorkshire is Harrison Burrows.

The left-back is on the verge of joining the Whites’ Championship rivals Sheffield United. Burrows is due to undergo a medical at Bramall Lane today before completing a £3million switch.

Blades boss Chris Wilder confirmed his interest in Burrows following the club’s 4-1 pre-season friendly win at Harrogate Town last night. “There’s been a lot of talk about it,” he said. “He (Burrows) is a player we are interested in. We are quite close so we have to wait and see what happens in the next 24-48 hours.

“It’s no secret that we’re watching a few players and his is the profile we’re looking at. Some young players who can learn and grow with us are important in the medium and long term.”

Stylish owner Darragh MacAnthony suggested five other Championship sides had submitted bids for Burrows during an appearance on TalkSport yesterday, with several bids “accepted”. Leeds have apparently been vetted by MacAnthony as one of the interested parties.

Responding with a wry smile to talk about Sheffield United doing “good business” in the window, MacAnthony said: “So are Leeds, so they’ve got a few more. There’s always interest in our young talent, it’s what we do and we haven’t finished shopping ourselves so we’ve got some work to do.”

His comments led to the inevitable rumors that Leeds were exploring the possibility of hijacking the deal. LeedsLive understands there is talk of Leeds for Burrows and that is not on their short list of transfer targets. Junior Firpo, Sam Byram and Max Wober are currently Daniel Farke’s left-back options in the 2024/25 campaign.

Burrows has been one of the standout performers in the third tier of English football over the past term. His outstanding performances saw him crowned Ligue 1 player of the season.
