This is the Birkenhead News summary of police and crime news in and around Wirral for the past seven days.

Police have charged a man following an attempted robbery at a shop in Wallasey on Saturday 20 July.

At around 4.45pm it was reported that a man entered the King Convenience store on King Street and threatened staff and a customer with a knife and demanded cash from a cashier.

He left empty handed and no one was hurt.

A Wirral man has been jailed for breaching his restraining order.

Jack Roach, 21, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty at Liverpool Civil and Family Court on Friday July 19 to breaching the gang order and was jailed for 18 weeks.

Roach was previously given a 12-week suspended sentence on 19 March 2024 for previous offences.

These two motorbikes were seized for lack of insurance in the Liscard area after reports of anti-social riding.

Merseyside Police have arrested a man and seized a suspected stolen e-bike following a robbery in Wirral on Tuesday 23 July.

At around 9.50pm, a man in his 20s was on his e-bike outside the Eagle and Crown pub on Ford Road, Upton, when he was allegedly approached by a man. Threats were made and the bike was stolen.

Vehicle tracker inquiries followed the e-bike to Scoresby Road in Leasowe and a man was apprehended nearby.

David Hulatt, 53, of Cleveland Street in Birkenhead, sadly died at his home on Wednesday 17 July.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Merseyside’s Police and Crime Commissioner has welcomed the release of statistics showing that overall crime has fallen by 14.26% in Merseyside for the year ending March 2024 compared to the previous 12 months.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) published an annual report yesterday, Wednesday 24 July, showing crime statistics for all police forces in England and Wales, where crime fell by 3.5% on average.

In Merseyside, reports of a number of serious crimes fell, building on reductions from previous years.
