Leeds man charged with attempted murder after shooting in Burley Road

A Leeds man has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting in the city. Patson Mafaune, 25, of Servia Drive, Leeds, will appear at Leeds Crown Court today (Saturday, July 27) charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and dangerous driving.

It follows an investigation by detectives following a shooting in Burley Road in Hyde Park on Thursday, July 25. Shots were fired at a car on the road around 5:10 p.m. However, no one was injured.

Homicide and Major Investigation Squad officers are continuing to appeal for information and footage of the events leading up to or following the shooting.

Another 25-year-old man was also arrested for attempted murder, but no charges have been brought and he remains in police custody at this time. A 23-year-old man who was arrested on July 25 in connection with the shooting has been released on bail.
