The Selecter will play their first show in Coventry since the singer’s death in September

The Selecter will return to Coventry in September for their first hometown show since the death of singer Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson. The band’s co-frontman sadly died at his home in the city on June 11, aged 73.

Mourners from across the city and the music world gathered at Coventry Cathedral on Tuesday for a special service to pay tribute to the musician. Despite the loss of the band, their tour will continue, with their first show since the funeral being at Worcestershire’s Sunshine Festival at the end of August.

However, the September 28 show at hmv Empire will be the band’s first hometown show since his death. Led by Pauline Black, who gave the first eulogy at his funeral, the band’s line-up will also include original drummer Charley ‘Aitch’ Bembridge. Promotional posters for the show still feature Hendrickson.
