ULEZ: Swindon council leader ‘not interested’ in charging drivers

Mr. Robbins was unequivocal: “No. I’m not interested. I won’t do it. It will not happen.

“It’s a conspiracy theory that we see a lot. We’re not going to do it. It’s not happening. I’m trying to be as clear as possible.”

Another residents’ association member, Andrew Osborne, asked: “When we ask the council about this, you always say, ‘There are no current plans.’ Do you have plans for road charging or ultra-low emission zones, current or future?”

Mr. Robbins replied, “No.”

Independent parliamentary candidate for Swindon North at the recent general election, Deborah Hicks raised another question: “Can you give a yes or no answer? You will introduce some extensive traffic scheme that will involve charging drivers. Yes or no?”

Mr. Robbins said, “No.”
