Former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has revealed she was rushed to hospital for “last minute” surgery as she issued an update on her health. Georgia, 33, announced that she is not sure when her recovery will allow her to return to her new job.

Georgia, known for her role as Katy Armstrong in the ITV soap, is now a nail technician and has her own salon in Manchester. The star shared via GMFNails, her business Instagram account, “Thank you. Clients booked last week, just wanted to let you know I had last minute surgery today.




“I’m not sure how the recovery is or how quickly I’ll be able to come back. So I’m just letting you know that your schedule may change.”

Georgia was on Coronation Street for five years from 2010 to 2018. She is also well known for playing Alison Simmons in the BBC school drama series Grange Hill from 2005 to 2008.

In 2015, she was runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with Giovanni Pernice. In May, the actor opened up about her insecurities about vitiligo, which causes parts of the skin to lose pigment or color.

“Every time I go on vacation and get a nice tan, I see how much my vitiligo has spread more than ever,” Georgia explained in a selfie. “I’d be lying if I didn’t say it touches me. It makes me feel super insecure sometimes.

“But seeing how the people around me still support me and love me just the same makes my heart feel full. I’ve noticed people staring, having an old man with screwed-up faces, and that’s when my heart drops.”
