‘Known’ criminal who terrorized suburban Birmingham caught after trying to run from police

A serial killer who targeted the same Birmingham community has been jailed for a string of murders. Clint Hewitt, of no fixed address, was identified by police and traced after Birmingham Borough Crime Squad and Moseley and Kings Heath Borough Squad pooled resources in an investigation.

When officers went to arrest him at an address in Kings Heath on Friday, February 2, he tried to flee the scene. But he was apprehended and taken into custody.




Hewitt admitted handling stolen property, driving without a license and insurance and was also found to be in breach of a suspended sentence for burglary.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “A man has been jailed for handling stolen goods and driving crime after our teams in Birmingham worked together to arrest him. Clint Hewitt was identified and traced following investigative work by Birmingham Borough Crime Squad and Moseley and Kings Heath Borough Squad.

“When officers went to arrest the 46-year-old man at an address in Kings Heath on February 2, he tried to run away but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. He admitted handling stolen property, driving without a license and insurance and also found he breached a suspended sentence for burglary.”

The 46-year-old was jailed for two years and nine months at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday 22 July. Pc Scott Sheppard, from the Neighborhood Crime Team, said: “This was a great example of two teams working together. to keep this criminal locked up for the next two years.

“Hewitt was a known criminal who had been targeting the Kings Heath area for some time and thanks to the local knowledge of the neighborhood team we were able to quickly track him down and get him off the streets.”
