Russell Crowe presents Leeds United bandmates with travel gear ahead of intimate gig in the city

Hollywood megastar and Leeds United co-owner Russell Crowe treated his bandmates to 2024/25 away kit ahead of his first gig in the city.

Performing with his band Indoor Garden Party at Brudenell Social Club in front of just 400 fans on Thursday, the esteemed actor of Gladiator fame produced the kits while giving a pre-gig interview with ITV News Leeds.

Crowe isn’t the only celebrity to invest in United, which is owned by the investment arm of the NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers. Will Ferrell, Michael Phelps, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas are among their shareholders.

Of his visit to Leeds, Crowe said: “It’s great, really good. I drove at night so I got here late, early in the morning. We arrived in the dark and basically slept all day. We’re halfway through this tour and we’ve played in some incredible places.”

The band have been on a European tour highlighted by playing Glastonbury, but the more intimate gig at Brudenell Social Club is a significant part of the tour and a welcome change of pace.

“It’s going to be fun,” he said. “We debated different places we could play here, but there’s just that intensity of 400 people compared to the bigger stages and stuff we’ve done. It’s a great change for us. I actually have some fresh, new gear on the go. t-shirts for the whole band and everything!”
