Liverpool considering loan move for Ben Doak, Leicester City and Southampton interested

Ben Doak is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs as Liverpool consider sanctioning him on loan this season.

Newly promoted Leicester City and Southampton are among those keen to secure the services of the 18-year-old Scotland international.

Doak, who shone after coming off the bench in Friday’s 1-0 friendly win over Real Betis in Pittsburgh, is desperate to play regularly this season as he looks to put an injury-ravaged campaign behind him.

He made five appearances for Liverpool in the first half of 2023-34 when he replaced Mohamed Salah, but was then ruled out with a knee problem that required surgery.

Doak, who signed for Liverpool from Celtic in 2022, fought to earn a call-up to the Scotland squad ahead of the European Championship but missed the tournament in Germany due to another fitness issue.

Now fully recovered, he is keen to make up for lost time and knows his playing time could be limited if he stays at Anfield this season.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes are fully aware of his wishes and plan to sit down with him to weigh up his options following the current pre-season tour of America.

Fellow Liverpool man Luke Chambers is wanted on loan by Wigan Athletic but remains part of Slot’s squad in the States, with the club in no rush to make a decision on his future.
