At just 20 years of age, Thomas has shown exceptional talent and speed on the pitch, traits that Wigan Athletic hope to capitalize on during the 2024/25 campaign.

His decision to move was heavily influenced by the keen interest shown by Wigan manager Shaun Maloney and sporting director Gregor Rioch, who has been monitoring the youngster’s development for over eighteen months.

“It’s a very proud moment for me and my family. I can’t wait to get started and meet the fans,“, Thomas told the club’s website.

“It was easy for me to come here knowing the Manager wanted me for over 18 months. I want to do my best and show everyone what I’m capable of.

Thomas began his football journey at Carshalton Athletic where he played for two seasons before catching the attention of Chelsea scouts.

His potential blossomed at Cobham, Chelsea’s training ground, where he played for both the U18s and U21s.

In addition to his club commitments, Thomas has represented England at both U18 and U15 levels, demonstrating his versatility and ability at various age groups.

His move to Leicester City last season marked a significant milestone. Thomas quickly made a name for himself with the Foxes, winning the Men’s Development Player of the Season award last May.

Over the course of the season, he made 16 appearances for Leicester’s senior Academy team, scoring five goals and earning a nomination for March’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month.

Moreover, his contributions were not limited to domestic competitions.

Thomas was also instrumental in Leicester City U21’s campaign in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy group stage, notably scoring the winning goal against Tranmere Rovers and against Wigan at the Brick Community Stadium.
