Man charged with attempted murder after discharging firearm in Leeds

A Leeds man has been charged with attempted murder after discharging a firearm in Leeds city centre.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that Patson Mafaune has been charged and will appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (July 27).

Mafaune was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and dangerous driving.

The 25-year-old, of Servia Drive in north Leeds, was charged over the incident after the firearm damaged a vehicle on Burley Road on Thursday (July 25).

West Yorkshire Police said they were called to the incident at 5.10pm on Thursday and determined no one was injured in the evacuation.

A second man, aged 25, was also arrested by police on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.

A third man, who was arrested shortly after discharging the weapon, has been released on bail.

Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to appeal for information about the incident and have urged anyone with information to get in touch.

Those who may have witnessed the download or have dashcam or doorbell footage of the area around the time of the incident are specifically asked to come forward.
