Dr. Neeraj Patil appointed to the National Executive Committee of the Labor Party

Dr Neeraj Patil, a prominent NRI and former Mayor of the London Borough of Lambeth, has been appointed to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Labor Party, the party’s most important decision-making body.

The confirmation came from general secretary David Evans last week. The NEC is responsible for governing the Labor Party, setting its strategic direction and developing policy. It comprises 39 members, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer, trade union representatives, MPs and party members.

Patil, a native of Kalburgi, Karnataka, completed his initial education in India and post-graduate studies at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. With 28 years of service in the NHS as a consultant in accident and emergency medicine, Patil was an active member of the Labor Party for two decades. He served twice on the National Policy Forum and eight years on Lambeth Council, where he played a key role in the installation of the Basaveshwara statue in 2015.
