Royal Enfield’s first electric bike launch is still a few years away

– First Royal Enfield EV launch by FY 2027

– Two EV platforms under development

– The Himalayan EV concept was presented last year

Royal Enfield is in no rush to launch an electric motorcycle. The company’s first electric bike is likely to make its debut in fiscal 2027.

As of now, the company is fully focused on expanding its 450cc lineup along with the addition of another 350cc motorcycle. In the next two to three years, Royal Enfield will have a full range of 450cc bikes. Additionally, at least two new 650cc motorcycles will be launched for the Indian market as well as the international market.

It is no secret that Royal Enfield has invested heavily in the electric vehicle business in India as well as in the UK. In fact, during a visit to their technical center in Chennai, it was noted that there is separate validation and testing infrastructure built for EV bikes.

According to our sources, Royal Enfield is working on at least two electric motorcycle platforms. These platforms will help the brand develop at least four to five electric motorcycles. However, the development of these platforms is still in the early stages and will take several years for a production model. Interestingly, the Himalaya electric bike was introduced last year, but this was an early prototype. The company’s best truly believe that battery technologies will become better and cheaper in the coming years, and as a result, they will be able to price their bikes for maximum profitability.
