Murder investigation and man arrested after woman found dead in Leicester

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman’s body was found at a property in Leicester. Police said this evening that officers were called to the property in Bolsover Street, a residential street in the east of the city, just after 8.05pm yesterday (Monday, May 13) and found the body.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody, where he is being questioned by detectives. The property remains cordoned off while officers carry out inquiries at the scene.



Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Crime Squad, is leading the investigation. He said: “A team of detectives are continuing to work to understand what happened and a cordon will remain in place while we thoroughly examine the scene.

“We currently have a man arrested in connection with the death and he continues to be interviewed by police. Family Liaison Officers have also been deployed to support the victim’s family during this extremely difficult and painful time.

“House to house inquiries are being carried out in the area and a CCTV trawl is being carried out in the area and if anyone has any footage or information that could help they are asked to get in touch. We understand that the incident may have caused some alarm in the community and we want to reassure you that this is an isolated incident. Local officers will be in the area to secure people.”
