‘Muscular’ man seriously injures stranger after row at Leeds bus station

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured after being attacked at a Leeds bus station last night.

At 10.35pm on Monday 13 May, West Yorkshire Police were contacted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to reports that a man had been assaulted in Stanningley Road, Bramley. The victim, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment of a serious head injury, which was not considered life-threatening.

He had been waiting at a bus stop near the junction of Stanningley Road and Rossefield Approach at around 10.15pm when he “exchanged words” with a man passing by. The man then turned and punched him to the ground.

The suspect was described as black, about 6 feet tall and of muscular build. A scene was put in place while police carried out a forensic examination but has since been taken down. Detectives from Leeds District CID are continuing to carry out inquiries into the incident.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police added: “Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Leeds District CID on 101 quoting crime reference 13240257089 or onlineit is.”
