Friends and keen walkers spontaneously walk from Grantham to Nottingham

A group of friends and avid walkers decided on a whim to walk from their hometown to another city.

On Monday (July 22), friends Dev Banda, Shiva Timalisina, Krishna Gurung, Kamal Bhandari and two others set off at 9am from Grantham and spent the next 12 hours walking 46km along the Grantham Canal to Nottingham, ending at 9.30am . p.m

The friends, who are all keen joggers and runners, organize their own walks for Nepalis and want to encourage other Nepalis in Grantham to join them.

“We weren’t planning on doing it, but we thought we’d do it,” Dev said.

Dev added, “There was quite a lot to do. It was from about 20 miles in that everyone started to hurt.

“But everyone was really determined to finish. Now I have really bad blisters.”

Krishna said: “We are all over 50 and our main aim was to inspire ourselves and others to take care of our physical and emotional health.

“It was a great experience, although it was sore after 20 miles.
