The man was banned from owning dogs after CCTV caught what he was doing in the lift

A cruel criminal who stomped on and punched his puppy and grabbed it by the neck has been banned from keeping animals. Cameron Brunning, 22, was caught brutally attacking his two-year-old bulldog after CCTV in the lift at his block of flats captured the animal cruelty.

The robber could be seen aiming punches at the defenseless dog, named Biscuit, as he huddled in the corner of the lift. The shocking images show Brunning, from St. Cuthbert, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, aggressively dragging the lead bulldog of Old Tyme.

Once in the elevator, he begins to headbutt and kick her before yelling at her. In another clip, he can be seen picking up the dog by her neck and dangling her in front of the mirror for around ten seconds before releasing her.

The bully claimed he “had to teach the dog how to behave” when questioned by RSPCA investigators, who found Biscuit was afraid of being petted. Appearing at Gateshead Magistrates’ Court, Brunning pleaded guilty to two offenses under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

He admitted causing the bulldog unnecessary suffering by physical and mental abuse, as well as an offense of failing to meet the needs of the dog. He was sentenced on July 17, where he was banned from keeping animals for five years and given a 12-month community order requiring him to carry out 20 days of rehabilitation activity.

An RSPCA investigator went to Brunning’s flat, accompanied by two police officers, on 11 October 2023 after CCTV footage was reviewed by sheer luck. The attacks are believed to have been committed between September and October 2023.

In a statement read to the court, RSPCA Inspector Keogh-Laws said: “The defendant can be seen kicking the dog throughout the videos, violently kicking her head and legs and punching her in the face. He is seen picking her up and slamming her to the ground, where she lands on her back. In a flash, he’s picking up the dog and holding her to the elevator mirror by the neck. He holds her about three feet off the ground for about 10 seconds and then drops her to the floor.

“His body language is aggressive and he’s right in front of the dog pointing. In another clip, he traps the dog in the corner of the elevator. The dog looks horrified and she crouches down and tries to get away in the far corner of the elevator. The dog did not appear to be doing anything leading up to or during the beatings which were completely unprovoked.”
