Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale this summer but want the England international on loan.

The 26-year-old has fallen behind David Raya in the pecking order at the Emirates and first-team opportunities look set to be very limited going forward.

Ramsdale made just 11 appearances in all competitions last season, behind Raya in the battle for the gloves in the Premier League and Champions League.

The Sun report that Nottingham Forest are keen to take advantage of the situation and sign the stopper this summer.

However, Arsenal are demanding £50million for the former Bournemouth man and Forest will not meet that asking price.

Instead, the City Ground outfit are willing to wait until late in the transfer window and hope to sign Ramsdale on a short-term deal, covering his full wages.

Whether or not that ploy will be successful remains to be seen, but it’s a risky strategy in a summer that could see a goalkeeping carousel.

Sam Johnstone is another target for Nottingham Forest as he looks set to leave Crystal Palace this summer after falling behind Dean Henderson at Selhurst Park.

There is no shortage of interest in the 31-year-old, with the likes of Wolves, Southampton, Bournemouth and Leicester all interested in the England international.

If Forest wait to move for Ramsdale until late in the window then they may miss out on Johnstone.

Arsenal are also looking to bring in another goalkeeper, with Ramsdale expected to leave, and have already seen a bid rejected for Wolves stopper Daniel Bentley.

The 31-year-old has made just five Premier League appearances but has plenty of experience at the lower levels, amassing more than 400 appearances, having played for Southend, Bristol City and Brentford.

The Gunners see him as a safe pair of hands to back up Raya, but their eye-watering £50,000 bid was rejected by Wolves earlier this month, as reported by the BBC.
