Sheff Utd, Stoke and West Brom could face the striker’s letdown

Sheffield United, Stoke City and West Brom could yet be left disappointed in their efforts to land a striker from a Premier League club, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The transfer window is heating up as the start of the season looms on the horizon and clubs still have work to do.

Sheffield United, Stoke and West Brom are all looking to add to their firepower before the window closes.

And all three watch for a move to take Leicester City striker Tom Cannon, which could be an expensive deal and cost substantial wages if he moves on loan.

However, Leicester are yet to decide whether to let Cannon go and could decide they want to keep him.

Steve Cooper is gearing up for a season back in the Premier League for the Foxes and may think he wants as much attacking depth as possible.

Cannon saw injury cut short his season at Leicester last term and made just 13 league appearances.

He has also struggled to land Enzo Maresca when fit, but now a new manager is at the helm of the Foxes in the form of Cooper.
