What Arne Slot has said to Liverpool’s ‘outstanding’ talent who could leave this summer

A Liverpool talent has admitted he held talks with Arne Slot this summer amid rumors he could leave.

The Dutch manager is firmly locked into his new job after replacing Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season, with Slot tasked with building on the Liverpool legend’s legacy and leading the Reds into a new era.

Despite making no new signings, it is clear that Slot wants to push the Merseyside giants past the Klopp years, with the former Feyenoord boss showing his plan in Liverpool’s pre-season 1- 0 against Real Betis.

And one young man said he had discussions with Slot about his future.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, youngster Fabio Carvalho said he has spoken to Slot about his role in the team, amid rumors that the former Fulham wonderkid could leave Anfield for good this summer.

Carvalho thrived on loan in the second half of last season with Hull City, and with first-team minutes not guaranteed, there is a real chance the attacking midfielder could leave Liverpool again this summer, be it temporarily or permanently.

When asked if he had spoken to Slot about his future, Carvalho said: “We’ve had a few conversations that I won’t go into detail about, but he wants me to put my head down and work hard and see where it goes.

“(The spell with Hull) was crucial, I needed game time and I was happy when I was playing. Every footballer wants to play week in week out and I feel I got the best out of myself when I was out there playing.”

Another loan move could be perfect for Carvalho this summer

Hailed by Klopp as an “outstanding” prospect, Carvalho clearly has the potential to go far with Liverpool if the Reds can find a way to unlock the 21-year-old’s potential in the coming years.

And after Carvalho’s success at Hull last season, another loan move to an English side could be just what the winger needs to take his development to the next step, especially if Slot has no plans to use him on the young man for the new season.

Indeed, Carvalho knows he can take his game to the next level if he can get a regular amount of game time, and the former Fulham man simply won’t get that at Anfield with Liverpool this coming campaign.
