Report: Celebrities: Enstarz

Prince William has apparently stopped hiring the Queen’s sister Camilla as an interior designer for the Duchy of Cornwall, according to a new report.

Based on the Duchy of Cornwall’s latest integrated annual report, Prince William appears to have removed his stepmother’s sister, Annabel Elliot, from the payroll of the estate, which she inherited when her father, King Charles of III, ascended the throne in September 2022.

The report revealed that for the first time in almost two decades, Elliot was not paid for her services in 2023-2024 — Prince William’s first full year as Duke of Cornwall.

Anonymous sources confirmed to The Telegraph that the Prince of Wales had decided not to retain Elliot’s services, but clarified that the decision “does not reflect on her work”.

According to insiders, “Elliot’s extensive interior work across the property is considered complete and the current staff have learned enough from it.”

Then Prince Charles hired Elliot as chief designer of his estates after his marriage to Camilla in 2005.

Since then, the Duchy of Cornwall — which provides income for the heir to the throne — had paid Elliot hundreds of thousands of dollars for her work.

Among her responsibilities were decorating, updating and maintaining the various properties in the Duchy of Cornwall’s portfolio, which is valued at $1.3 billion by Forbes.

She also bought furniture, furnishings and retail stock for certain properties.

“During the period up to (8 September 2022), the Duchy paid Mrs Annabel Elliot, sister-in-law of the 24th Duke of Cornwall, in the normal course of £19,625 ($25,276.51) for taxes and fees and £12,316 ($15,862.70) for the purchase of furniture, furnishings and retail stock for the Duchy of Cornwall holiday accommodation, Duchy offices and Duchy Nursery’ shows in the report. , repeating information shared last year.

“At (March 31, 2024), there were no more pounds sterling (2023: £nil) payable to Mrs Elliot for these,” it continued.

Although Prince William has decided not to rehire her as an interior designer, Elliot still has other professional ties to the royal family.

She is currently overseeing the refurbishment of the visitor center and restaurant at Balmoral as it prepares to welcome visitors this summer.

An unnamed person at Buckingham Palace told The Telegraph that the royal family intended to re-employ Elliot in the future if “appropriate opportunities arose”.
