Coventry Park received the best score from Visit England

A COVENTRY park has been awarded the top score by Visit England following a recent quality assessment.

Coombe Abbey Park, the city council-owned venue, is to be nominated for a gold award after achieving a score of 93%.

New facilities such as newly opened toilet seats, Pay and Play for children, Climbing Forest and Go Ape were praised in the assessment.

The review also praised the free attractions, including the initiation of the Memorial Trail, gardens, arboretum, Old Deer Park, Wildflower Meadow and Bird Hide.

The Information Center and Discovery Center were both noted for their collections of guides, maps and interactive information.

Coun Abdul Khan, Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “We all know how much locals and visitors alike enjoy the fantastic experience of visiting Coombe Abbey Park.

“I was there recently and there’s so much for people to enjoy and it’s a really spectacular place.

“I’m delighted that the judges at Visit England have given the park such high praise and I’m crossing my fingers that it will get the gold award it so richly deserves.”
