An inquest has been launched into the death of a Coventry care home worker as the special team was recruited

Coventry City Council issued a statement following the tragic death of a city worker yesterday (Wednesday, July 24). A woman has died at Grove House Residential Home in Keresley.

Police were called to Grove House on Tamworth Road at around 8.40am yesterday morning, with the building cordoned off throughout the day (July 24). Firefighters from Coventry and Bickenhill also attended.

Crews found a woman in her 60s in a critical condition and she died at the scene shortly afterwards, West Midlands Ambulance Service said. Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

Coventry City Council said it was continuing to investigate the incident and work with Grove House to “ensure the continued safety of staff and residents”. A spokesman said their “thoughts were with the family, friends and colleagues” of the woman who tragically died.

In a statement issued today (July 25), Coventry City Council said: “Following the death of a woman at Grove House Residential Home, the health and safety team is working with West Midlands Police to investigate the matter.

“Our thoughts are with her family, friends and co-workers at this very difficult time. We are working with the care home to ensure the continued safety of residents and staff.”

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: “We were called to Grove House in Coventry at 8.40am on Wednesday 24 July. Crews from Coventry and Bickenhill fire stations attended.

“Along with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service, our crews worked hard to treat a woman who sadly died at the scene. Our thoughts are with your loved ones.”
