✅ The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has recommended that breast cancer tools be made more widely available in the UK. NICE says tumor profiling tests offered by Endopredict, Oncotype DX or Prosigna could prevent certain cohorts of patients from undergoing chemotherapy unnecessarily.

🏥 Spectral AI, an artificial intelligence company focused on medical diagnostics in wound care, is close to its first commercial revenues, according to its first quarter results update. The company is launching its DeepView burn system in the UK in the second half of 2024 to improve patient care and increase familiarity with the device among doctors.

👩‍⚕️ SleepCogni has received over £340,000 from Innovate UK to fund a project with Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust to tackle insomnia in children. The project will test the SleepCogni device in a user experience study with pediatric patients. It aims to optimize the device to meet the specific needs of children, as well as introduce AI algorithms to improve the personalization and engagement of therapy.

🤝 Vivalink is to supply the Rett Syndrome Research Trust’s new VIBRANT trial Multi-Vital ECG wearable technology and data services. VIBRANT will study up to 35 patients to validate digital solutions for monitoring autonomic dysfunction and support the clinical development of potential therapeutics.

💰 Samsung Medison plans to acquire Paris-based startup Sonio, which makes AI-based software for ultrasound workflows. Sonio Detect helps evaluate and document ultrasounds by using deep learning algorithms to improve image quality in real time. Samsun Medison is the medical device unit of Samsung Electronics, and the transaction is worth approximately $92.7 million.
