Dan Evans scores 150th Tour victory

Great Britain’s Dan Evans has reached a new milestone after reaching 150 career ATP Tour wins at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Evans beat Tunisia’s Moez Echargui 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 on his Olympic debut for Team GB to record his 150th career win since bursting onto the ATP tour in 2012.

Among his 150 wins, the British No.3 has won two ATP titles – Melbourne in 2021 and his biggest title to date at the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington in 2023.

In addition, he reached two other finals in Sydney (2017) and the Delray Beach Open (2019).

The Briton clinched his first tour-level win representing his country at the Davis Cup in February 2012, competing against Slovakia. Evans defeated Lukas Lacko in straight sets before later defeating Martin Klizan 6-1, 6-1, 4-6, 3-6, 6-3 in the final tie.

Evans’ first ATP win came on home soil at Queen’s Club in 2013 when he eliminated Argentina’s Guido Pella 6-3, 6-1 in the first round. A wild card entrant ranked 569th in the world, the Brit enjoyed a run to the last 16.

Since then, the Birmingham native has reached incredible heights in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings – securing a career-high world number 21 in August 2023.

Among his biggest career achievements is his triumphant victory over World No. 1 and 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic at the Monte Carlo Masters in 2021. Competing against one of tennis’ greatest players of all time, Evans saw off the Serbian 6-4, 7-5 to claim the biggest ranking win of his career and eventually reach the semi-finals of the tournament.

Hard courts proved to be Evans’ most comfortable surface, with the 32-year-old claiming 114 victories on the surface, while he won 20 on clay and 16 on grass.

Her best round at a Grand Slam came at the 2017 Australian Open when she reached the fourth round. During his run, Evans defeated the likes of Facundo Bagnis, Bernard Tomic and 2014 US Open champion and then World No. 7 Marin Cilic.

He also reached the fourth round of a major at the 2021 US Open, where he defeated Thiago Monteiro, Marcos Giron and Alexei Popyrin. Meanwhile, his Grand Slam success has seen him reach the third round of The Championships, Wimbledon on three occasions (2016, 2019, 2021) and the second round at Roland Garros in 2022.

Evans has undoubtedly been a strong and dedicated addition to the Lexus Great Britain Davis Cup team and boasts an impressive 16 singles and doubles wins.

Evans was the standout player in the 2023 Davis Cup group stages, guiding his country to qualification for the Davis Cup final. The Brit recorded wins over Arthur Fils and Alex de Minaur in the singles before securing GB’s place in the Final 8 with a three-set victory over Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the deciding doubles match alongside Neal Skupski.
